Designed by Jean-Baptiste Huet around 1792-1794.
The four continents (key regions of the known world in the late eighteenth century) are each the subject of an allegorical scene: Europe (represented by a woman wearing a crown and bearing a sceptre, seems to rule the world thanks to its abundant property, the extent of its knowledge, the power of its military and its religious authority), Asia ( under the eye of a camel two women carry out a pagan ritual at the foot of an altar), Africa (a woman surrounded by wild animals and playing children) and America (two Indians hunt and capture a crocodile in a lushly vegetated swamp).
